MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Gerardo Ramos

Where are you from?

I was born in El Salvador. I currently reside in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I have a daughter. She is 6 years old. She brings me so much happiness. I have been a photographer for 5 years. I attended the southeast center of photographic studies in Daytona and graduated with an associates in photographic technology.

How did you become interested in Photography?

While I was in the military I had the opportunity to travel the world. I realized the photos I was taking were blurry and didn’t capture the moment the way I wanted to. So I picked up a camera in Germany and began to experiment :)

What type of photography do you specialize in?

I’d like to believe I am a jack of all trades. I do not want to corner myself into one niche. At this point in my career, I feel as though I need to make myself as marketable as possible. I am able to photograph portraits (On location, studio), events, and also do video work. However, lately I have focused on combat sports photography. How did you come to specialize in this type of photography?

I’ve been photographing combat sports for about three years. My first experience was through a class assignment. I was tasked to photograph a male figure. So I reached out to a local MMA fighter and asked if I could photograph him. Once I met him and networked I was able to gain access to different venues and photograph various fighting events.

What other attributes do you have that you think to contribute to your success as a photographer?

I am disciplined, tenacious, and focused. I think my greatest attribute is being humble. There is always room for improvement. I always want to learn and grow. In this industry, it is important to evolve with the changing times. Whether it is technology or a new trend. I feel as though I am able to adapt to any situation.
