MIKE DILL BIO

Michael Dill is an internationally recognized, award-winning photographer, who specializes in sports action, wildlife, landscape and portrait photography. Michael has taken nearly two decades to fine-tune a process that’s produced thousands of custom prints and collections of widely renowned, superior images.

Along the way, he’s acquired titles such as Certified Professional Photographer, Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman. Michael marked his most recent achievement by earning a master’s degree in photography, a feat he accomplished in a matter of only two years.

Leveraging his intuitive style, Michael has captured crowning moments for several high-profile players and their franchises, to include the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. Recently retired as the Team Photographer for the Trenton Thunder, the New York Yankees’ AA affiliate and the Lakewood Blue Claws, a Philadelphia Phillies’ High A affiliate.

With respect to his professional development, Michael, who boasts an unrivaled passion for his craft, has evolved into a dynamic teacher of the trade.  He conveys his signature techniques and even a few industry secrets to students, who are then able to implement these practices into their own photography, regardless of their level of expertise.

But as anyone who’s familiar with his work can attest to, Michael, at his core, is an artist with a vision. Professional and personal ambition aside, with every snap of a frame, his ultimate goal is to preserve memories that will last a lifetime.

Everyday people are out taking pictures of everything…with their cameras, phones, and even drones every day of the week. On the business side of photography everything is planned out, location, lighting, subject, clothing, etc. The photos are then culled together to show the client, photos are picked, and hours of photoshop follows (hopefully not that long). What about the images that are just photoshoot snapshots, or even cellphone photos?

On April 18th, I will be going through the basics of photography in competition terms with the 12 elements. This is not a competition presentation. The 12 elements can all be used to take a snapshot, turn it into a good-looking photo, and even possibly move on to competition. We will then go through my process of taking a snapshot, turning it into a better photograph, and hopefully a merit worth image.
